My 4 Hour Workweek

I can’t believe how quickly January flew by – it seems like just yesterday that we were ringing in the new year.  In general, it was pretty good month.  I saw some overall improvements, although there was one area where I struggled mightily (and I’ll explain that below).

The good news is, my biggest passive income project has continued rolling along nicely.  I’m not earning the big bucks yet, but steady improvements are nothing to complain about.

If I had to pick a word that sums up my past couple months of online work, it would be this: irony.  Both December and November were highly productive months, yet somehow, they have led to two of my lowest consecutive earning months.  December is somewhat understandable – while it’s generally a good month for Amazon affiliates (because of holiday shopping), it’s often a bad month for just about everything else.

Nevertheless, passive income projects are all about future income, so I’m less concerned with the past.  I’ve added a lot of income-producing properties to my portfolio over the past couple of months, and it’s only a matter of time before I start to see the benefit of it all.

November was a very productive month for me, which is a nice change of pace from the many past months where all I have to say is “I didn’t do much this month…”  As with most passive income ventures, the efforts of this month probably won’t hit my bottom line for at least another month or two, but it’s a great feeling to put in the work and feel confident that you’ll reap the benefits at some point in the future.

Let’s just say, I’m glad October is over.  I had the opportunity to have my best month ever, and it was thwarted sharply by Google’s recent algorithm change, which unfortunately hit a few of my more lucrative niche sites pretty hard.  As a result, I actually saw one of my worst months of the year.

As usual, I’m not worried, thanks to some new projects in the pipeline.  That’s part of the fun of this passive income “game” – things are always changing, so you constantly have to stay ahead of the curve, and adapt as necessary.  Anyway, let’s get into the details for October.

September flew by! It feels like just a week ago, I was writing about August.  What are the chances there’s ever a month where you find yourself saying, “this month felt like forever…”? Seems unlikely.

Wow, August was a busy month! We’re almost a third of the way through September and I’m just now finally getting around to writing about August’s results.

August was another one of those ironic months where I did very little, yet somehow had one of my best months ever (don’t get too excited though – it’s not much better than the past few months).

It’s always exciting to write these income reports each month because I don’t track my income on a daily basis – generally, I don’t have a good sense for how well I’m doing in a particular month until it ends and I write my monthly income report.  There are certain things I check on a regular basis (AdSense and Amazon to be specific), but even if those things are performing well, it doesn’t necessarily say much about my other income sources.

With that said, the surprises aren’t always pleasant.  July was a “down” month, but in many ways, I saw very positive trends.

June was a great month overall – it appears my “productive” feeling from May actually paid off, although I’m sure the best is yet to come.  Certain areas of my income saw record numbers, while others have declined slightly.  Overall, I think I’m headed in the right direction.

As always, I write these reports to show you that someone who has a full time job and spends a relatively small amount of time outside of work on his online income activities can still achieve a steadily growing stream of passive income.
