Online Passive Income and Blog Update [August '11]

Wow, August was a busy month! We’re almost a third of the way through September and I’m just now finally getting around to writing about August’s results.

August was another one of those ironic months where I did very little, yet somehow had one of my best months ever (don’t get too excited though – it’s not much better than the past few months).

Before I get into the usual monthly update, I’m going to begin with a personal update…

Online Passive Income and Blog Update [July '11]

It’s always exciting to write these income reports each month because I don’t track my income on a daily basis – generally, I don’t have a good sense for how well I’m doing in a particular month until it ends and I write my monthly income report.  There are certain things I check on a regular basis (AdSense and Amazon to be specific), but even if those things are performing well, it doesn’t necessarily say much about my other income sources.

With that said, the surprises aren’t always pleasant.  July was a “down” month, but in many ways, I saw very positive trends.

Online Passive Income and Blog Update [June '11]

June was a great month overall – it appears my “productive” feeling from May actually paid off, although I’m sure the best is yet to come.  Certain areas of my income saw record numbers, while others have declined slightly.  Overall, I think I’m headed in the right direction.

As always, I write these reports to show you that someone who has a full time job and spends a relatively small amount of time outside of work on his online income activities can still achieve a steadily growing stream of passive income.

Online Passive Income and Blog Update [May '11]

I felt like May was a productive month, even if the results don’t reflect it yet.  For whatever reason, I feel like I’ve been infused with new motivation, going so far as doing some backlinking for my InfoBarrel articles (which is something I haven’t done in a long time).

This month (June), I tried making a deal with myself to do at least 30 minutes of work per day during the week (obviously outside of my 9 to 5 job) which, sadly, is better than what I had been doing in the months prior.  I can usually spend a lot more time doing my “internet work” on the weekends, but it was always during the week where I struggled.

As I said, the results haven’t materialized yet, but I feel they’re on the way.  May was slightly better than April, and I really feel like I’m going to see some nice increases in the months to come.  Let’s dig into May…

Online Passive Income & Blog Update [April '11]

April may have been a pretty “status quo” month in terms of earnings, but I think there were a couple accomplishments (namely, the start of my authority website) that aren’t earning me anything right now, but could be very big sources of income in the future.

Although I’d love to sit here and tell you that I’m striving to quit my job in 6 months or make a million dollars in the next 2 years, I believe those things would create false hype.  Make no mistake, I will get there – it’s just not going to happen that quickly.  Realistically, I want to be the one to show you how it’s possible to earn decent money online while still keeping most of your focus on your “9 to 5″ career and your personal life.

We’d all love to earn a six-figure income from home, and it’s going to happen for some of us (and it’s a personal goal for me to do it eventually), but the majority of us are probably going to take a slow and steady approach to building up our online passive income.  It’s going to take time, and it’s going to require a lot of hard work, but we have the ability to be patient and not rush ourselves through the process.

Let’s take a look at April…

Online Passive Income & Blog Update [March '11]

Wow, March went by really quickly, didn’t it?  Overall, it felt like a pretty stable month – nothing great happened, yet I don’t think I fell short in any areas.  I guess when you want to be growing, “stable” isn’t necessarily a good thing, but it’s certainly better than a decline!

Let’s dig into the details…

Online Passive Income & Blog Update [February '11]

Well, this is officially the longest it’s taken me to post an income report for the previous month! For whatever reason, I don’t like February.  It always feels like my least productive month.  Maybe that’s because it’s usually always (thanks Lyndsy!) the shortest month of the year. And the weather is terrible.  And tax season is right around the corner (which no longer affects me from a professional standpoint, thankfully).

With that said, there were a lot of good things this February – mostly non-internet business related, however.  January was a month of change – February continued that trend, although things are beginning to stabilize.  Keep reading, and I’ll explain.

Online Passive Income & Blog Update [January '11]

The first month of 2011 is in the books, and winter is here in Chicago.  The blizzard this week wreaked havoc on nearby businesses, but fortunately the internet world is somewhat immune to weather conditions.

I have mixed feelings about January.  It was definitely a month of change – as I detailed in my 2011 goals, I changed jobs (and careers) this past month.  As is usually the case, I didn’t spend enough time (or as much time as I wanted) on my internet business(es).  My results were still positive, but growth has been slower than I’d like.

Anyway, I’ll let you read about it and decide.
