My Next Project: A “No Competition” Niche Site

I’ve decided that it’s finally time for my next “31-day challenge“.  If you recall from my last 31-day challenge, the purpose of the challenge is to focus solely on one project for 31 days.

It’s easy to let the little tasks distract you, and sometimes productivity is an illusion: you feel accomplished because you’re performing actions, but the actions add up to an insignificant result.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at my next 31-day challenge.

5 Interesting SEO and Link Building Tips I’ve Read Lately

Now that I’m in the middle of building a niche site, one of the most important things that I need to do is figure out how to get the site to rank well (on the first page of Google).

Keyword research is obviously a big part of that, but once you’ve started building the site, your focus really turns to content and SEO.  Although the SEO environment continues to evolve, it seems that most of the same old principles still apply.  When I refer to “SEO” here, 90% of what I’m referring to is link building.

I’m not an SEO expert, which is why I went on a search for tips from those who are (or who are at least really experienced).

A Sneak Peek at My New Niche Site

As you might recall, about a month ago I set out on a challenge to focus on one project for 31-days.  The idea was that I would eliminate some of my larger distractions and really kick my productivity into high gear.

I originally gave myself the option of doing two projects (one for the first half of the month, one for the second half), however I decided to just focus on one project for the entire month.

Overall, it was a success, and I wanted to share with you the details of what I created.

6 Awesome WordPress Plugins I’m Using on My New Niche Site

As I mentioned in my last post, I’m currently working on a new niche site.  It’s been over a year since I’ve created a true niche site from start to finish, which is one of the reasons why I wanted to tackle this challenge again.

As with most other websites I’ve ever created, I’m using WordPress.  And if you’ve ever used WordPress, you know that a lot of the “magic” happens with plugins.  They’re what allow you to perform complex functions without knowing a single thing about web development, coding, etc.

And although I’ve reviewed plugins in the past, I thought it might be useful to some people if I went through the plugins that I’m using on a new site, as some of the plugins recommended in the past may now be outdated.

Interview with Spencer Haws (and A Free Copy of Long Tail Pro)

Today I’m excited to bring you an interview with Spencer Haws, someone who I’ve followed for a long time.

He’s an internet entrepreneur who quit his job early in 2011 and has amassed quite an impressive list of accomplishments: He has earned a six-figure income through his niche sites with Google AdSense, developed one of the top keyword research tools on the market today (Long Tail Pro), and has worked on a number of other projects that he documents on his blog, Niche Pursuits.

In this interview, I asked Spencer a wide array of questions that I thought people would be really interested to read about. Spoiler alert: At the end of the interview, I’ll explain how you can win a free copy of Long Tail Pro.
