How Efficiently Do You Build Amazon Niche Sites?

I ask this question because I know my answer – not too efficiently.  Granted, I’ve done my best to outsource content and put it on “autopilot” but there was still one thing missing: a way to effectively and efficiently implement Amazon affiliate links without having to bounce back and forth between my site and my Amazon.com affiliate account.  Not to mention this wasn’t something I could have a VA do, because I didn’t want them having access to my account.

Let me say one thing up front – this is a product review (for a WordPress plugin), which you know I rarely publish here.  And it’s not for everyone.  But if you build Amazon niche sites or plan to, this is a tool you’re probably going to want to at least read about.

[Note: I'm actually going to be giving away at least one copy of this plugin for free.  The details are at the end of this post, and it'll be really easy to enter (all you have to do is leave a comment!).]

You’re probably familiar with Chris Guthrie if you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, as I’ve mentioned him several times.  He’s a blogger/internet marketer who has mastered the Amazon affiliate game.  I believe he’s made $90,000+ from his Amazon niche sites over the past two years, and has even sold one of them for a six-figure sum.

He created a course to walk through his strategy and methods, which I reviewed last year (and to this day, it’s one of the most popular posts I’ve published).  While my Amazon niche sites haven’t exactly been too successful, that’s been more a function of my ability to rank the sites.  When the sites receive good traffic, the earnings come, as you would expect.

Another problem has been volume – I originally set out to create over 20 Amazon niche sites, but to this date, have only created 8.  Part of the reason has been that I haven’t been willing to invest the necessary time.  Even though I can set up a WordPress site within a matter of minutes and outsource the content, you’d be surprised at how long it takes to track down affiliate links and images for all the products you discuss on the site.

The Solution: Easy Azon Plugin

This plugin isn’t going to be what makes your niche sites extremely profitable.  Obviously, traffic is going to play a key role.  However, one key to getting traffic and conversions is being able to add content and have your affiliate links in the right places.

Easy Azon essentially allows you to do the following things:

  • Create Amazon affiliate links in seconds without having to leave your WordPress post editing page.
  • Allows you to take advantage of your wasted international traffic by automatically changing your affiliate links based on where your visitor is coming from.  (Example: UK visitors will see Amazon UK affiliate links.)  This was a feature I found to be especially cool, considering I’m seeing a lot of random international traffic on my Amazon sites.  (Note: You need to set up a separate affiliate account with the country’s own Amazon Associates site, but this literally took me 5 minutes to do, and you only have to do it once.)

Get This Plugin for Free

I’ve decided to give this plugin away for free (at least one copy) to those of you who follow the very simple steps below:

  1. Go here to watch a video demonstration of the Easy Azon plugin.
  2. Come back to this post and leave a comment (however long or short you want) briefly explaining what you like about the plugin or how you plan to use the plugin.
  3. You have until Wednesday, June 15th at 11:59 PM EST to leave a comment as an entry.  On Thursday, I will select at least one winner at random and announce it in the comment section of this post.  The number of winners I select will be based on how much of a response this contest receives.
  4. If you win, you will claim your prize by forwarding your receipt to my4hrworkweek @ gmail.com.  If you’ve already purchased the plugin, you’ll have the receipt to forward.  If you haven’t yet, you’ll simply purchase the plugin here and forward me the receipt.
  5. Bonus: You can get a second entry by retweeting this post.  Just be sure the tweet contains @My4HWW, so that I can keep track of it.

Reimbursement for the plugin will be paid either via PayPal or as an Amazon gift certificate for the equivalent amount (your choice!).

Good luck, and enjoy!

UPDATE: Harlan Yee is the winner – Harlan, please purchase the Easy Azon plugin through my link and forward the receipt to me per the instructions at the bottom of the post. Let me know what PayPal address you would like the reimbursement send to, or if you’d prefer an Amazon gift certificate. Congrats!

  1. Cool! I really like the localizations idea. I also think it might be cool to extract this tool into a third party tool beyond just using in wordpress. Maybe just to generate the html snippets?

  2. My god I’ve been waiting for something like this. To be completely honest I gave up on my niche sites for amazon products cause the whole process was convoluted. This plugin would give me a little push to make a few more sites. Awesome!

  3. Oh Boy,

    I already tried a few free Amazon-Plugins.
    (see my website)
But it always ends up in having more work to do, so I still stick to the manual insertion of links.
The video demonstrates how I always wanted to have a plugin work. Simple and without switching from blog to amazon and back.
And it should work for Germany, too.
    Great.
I really like to try this one.

    Best regards

  8. This is a great plug in because when you can afford to outsource, then this is the perfect solution so that you do not have to give up your account details.

Plus living in the UK, it would be great to monetize the traffic that from here as well as from the US.

  9. I’ve made one single sale with Amazon and it was a bit hard but it’s doable.

I can also build an entire site in a matter of minutes if I know exactly what it’d be for.

Having an Amazon plugin to create a site centered on Amazon products would definitely come in quite handy.

I’m all up for small niche websites but I still have doubts around the percentage that Amazon offers.

Anyway, might be worth a shot, hence my comment, thanks and good luck with the contest Eric ;)

Thanks Sergio. You’re right that the Amazon commission % is very small. I think it’s made up for with the fact that so many people purchase so many products on Amazon. So while an individual sale won’t net you much, you’ll do well if you can bring a high volume of traffic (and clicks).

I also like that it will save time in creating links. I spend a lot of time grabbing links and images. This seems to solve both problems!

Definitely, Pete. I’m not sure if I will be going back and adding the localization to the sites I’ve created so far, but I will definitely be using it on new sites going forward.

  15. The thing that I really like about it is that it helps you build the links. Other plugins that I’ve seen, they’ll fetch the links, but you have to do the selecting for country, and you have to do the building for the actual visual presentation. The little bit that this adds, should save a whole lot of time.

  18. Hi Eric, I’ve been looking at easyazon as well. I love the geo-targeting aspect and simply how easy it is to setup.
I have setup one amazon niche site previously which had several products on it, with both text and image links and I had to go to amazon and manually create all of the product links (2 for each product) and then put them into my site.
EasyAzon looks soooo much more simple and would probably convince me that another amazon site is worth the effort!
    Cheers,

  22. I have one Amazon authority style site that is my primary source of web income right now so I would agree that the EasyAzon plugin will dramatically shorten the time it would take for me to link to products. Right now, I keep a text document that contains my most used Amazon affiliate links but it’s multiple pages. My system works but I definitely welcome the ability to add Amazon links right from the WordPress interface.

The only thing I’d really like to see added is integration with Carousel Widgets (not sure if that can be done?). They are a linking method that Chris mentions converts well and I’ve also seen more success with them personally. It just takes some time to make one.

    Good stuff!

  25. I am just about to create my first Amazon niche site.

The easyazon plugin sounds pretty cool. First I like that you can use it on an unlimited amount of websites. This is especially helpful since I plan to create 100′s of Amazon niche sites.

I also like the fact that you can make money from international traffic.

This seems so easy to use, I can’t wait to give it a try.
