Let’s Do It Again: Newbie Niche Site Month #2

Many of you will recall something I did for my newsletter subscribers back in December – I called it “newbie niche site month.”  Essentially, I sent weekly e-mails (for four weeks) to my subscribers with a short list of URLs that represented available exact match keyword domains for various types of products.  These were URLs that would potentially work well with Amazon niche sites.

The response I received was overwhelmingly positive. Although not everyone was able to actually register a domain, many enjoyed the emails because it gave them ideas for sites to build.  For those who don’t remember, I’ll recap the details…

“Newbie Niche Site Month” Details

During the next month or so, I am going to send out one e-mail per week (and I won’t tell you in advance which day it’ll be) to my newsletter subscribers (in addition to my pre-scheduled content that you may receive if you’re a recent subscriber) that will contain a short list of available domains, generally based on products that you can sell as an affiliate.  The timing of the e-mails will vary, so that everyone has a fair shot at registering the domains listed in each e-mail.

You can see the results of the last “newbie niche site” month I did, here.  Here was some of the feedback I received:

To Remind You of My Goal…

I want to help people who have never built a niche website, or who have tried building one, but failed.  I’m not trying to feed amazing domain names to people who are already experienced with developing niche websites.

I’m a firm believer in starting small when you’re new at something.  Run a 5k before you run a marathon.  Cook dinner for your girlfriend before you cook dinner for an entire party.  Achieve “small wins” so that you gain the knowledge and confidence necessary to go after the big fish.

With that in mind, I’m going to give out domains that aren’t highly competitive – they may be based on keywords that only receive 1,000-2,000 exact searches per month.  Even if a site like this only allows you to earn an additional $5-10 per month, that’s still $5-10 of passive income each month.  It’ll pay for your domain, and you’ll take what you learned and go after a bigger and better website.

What Types of Domains Are These?

These domains will generally be the types that work well for Amazon affiliate niche sites.  These are great for beginners because it’s relatively easy to convert sales with Amazon.  Also, these domains will all be .com/.net/.org domains.

  1. Great stuff Eric!

Funny enough, I didn’t receive your newsletters (i think) but am on the list…

Anyway,I just gave an update on my niche site, although running is not really a niche anymore, and pretty happy about it.

    Keep it up!

Hey Ralph – that’s odd – if you’re on the list, you should definitely be receiving the newsletters. Try subscribing again and see if it tells you that you’re already on the list.

I took a look at your niche site report – seems like you have a lot of good social media traffic coming into your niche site!

  2. That’s what I did and that’s how I knew I didn’t get them :)

I used to before, so that is the weird part..

  3. I love this!

I am creating my first niche site, as well as working on a personal site and a blog all at the same time. It is a lot to handle, and I’m glad to learn anything I can.

Subscribed, can’t wait for the email to come in.

Thanks for the comment, Ian! I really hope people will get some value out of it.

  6. It’s nice to know that you’re helping newbies in creating their own niche site. I must say that your blog can be their guide in making their way to success (why not?). I would like to subcribe in your newsletter. For sure, I can get useful information there not just like those non-sense items I’m getting from other bloggers. They are just spamming my inbox! LOL

  7. You know what, I totally believe in you. $5-$10 is still an additional amount in your bank account no matter what. As a newbie, this can be a great help maybe not in money wise but in helping to boost confidence in any future venture online. I wonder if people can directly contact you whenever they have questions about building niche sites.
